Jackson Kayak is Born

Jackson Kayak was born today, October, 27th, 2003. Its incubation period was short, or to look at it another way, has been very long. David Knight and I have been bringing the world kayaks since 1994. We have done it alone, then as employees of Wavesport. Now, we will bring you a whole new line of kayaks, this time we will do it our way, with Jackson Kayak. I’m Eric Jackson, and I own the company along with Tony Lunt, a kayaker friend from Arizona. I create kayaks with David Knight, my design partner since 1994. David Knight is a C-1er from the Washington, DC area. His full time job is at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Bethesda, Maryland. There, he is a naval architect with a special interest in structures (he likes to blow things up, then make them stronger, and try to blow them up again) David is looking forward to retiring from his government job and moving to Rock Island where the real fun begins. I am supported behind the scenes by Dave Olson from Greensboro, NC. He is my accountant, and financial advisor, but his expertise goes far beyond that with many years in the kayaking business. My wife, Kristine’s official position is Director of Sales. She fills many more roles than that, however, including chief advisor to the President (that’s me). You will see the attention to detail that Kristine brings to Jackson Kayak in everything we do. Tony Lunt adds the financial support needed to strengthen the bootstraps that I am starting Jackson Kayak with. He is a destination kayaker that must normally travel to find water, seeing that he lives in a desert. When not “street surfing” during the occasional downpour in Tucson, AZ, you can find him riding his stallions and roping cattle on his expansive desert ranch just north of the Mexican border. Jackson Kayak is located at Rock Island, Tennessee, home of the Ultimate freestyle hole, and the Brave Wave. We are located at Rock Island Road, if that gives you any idea how opportune the location is. My mother-in-law, Lorraine, is the office manager. She fills orders, handles customer service and keeps the books on a daily basis. That is a busy job, so be nice to her! You and your local dealer are our company advisors, we are making this company to cater to you. Right now, you will not find a production Jackson Kayak on the water, because they aren’t ready yet. However, the process is well under way. Look for prototypes on the water in a variety of locations from DC, to Rock Island, and as far away as Chile’. Keep your eye on this website as your “official” source of information. We will relaunch the website soon, as the official website of the “fun factory”, Jackson Kayak, and it will be all new.
