We are all having a blast here is Uganda. The water is lower than it was when we were here last January but there is still ample, awesome play on plenty different features.

Club wave is good for the morning. It is a nice wave similar to the wave “High Tension” in northern Quebec. It has a nice green shoulder and a foamier pit, that greens out and can get super steep. Here we have figured out pretty much every move we could think of, including: aircrews, panams, back panams, clean blunts, flashbacks, McNastys and then a whole mix of them in combos.

After our morning session we then come in for Lunch, play a game of football, or Ultimate Frisbee, or water Volleyball. After a little rest it’s back on to the water for some more paddling before diner.

In the afternoon the water comes up, and Nile Special is good to go with the use of the towrope attached to shore. It is great, being that it is super smooth, and steep. You can do anything you want, though it is a touch flushy, so you have to be careful about where you land your moves. It has a big surfers left shoulder so the biggest moves are the lefty moves.

Also in the afternoon High water Club wave comes in. It a great but opposite of Nile Special being that instead of a super smooth wave it is BOUNCY.

Both Club Wave and Nile Special are just a short paddle upstream from our home at the Hairy Lemon island. On days when we’re keen for a bigger adventure we head to the put in for the second day of the rafting section and enjoy a day surfing another wave called, Mutts Nutts. This wave is my favourite! It is the biggest wave on the river at this flow, and when it builds up it gets really steep. This wave has definitely given off the biggest air of the trip so far. Giant Airscrew, panams, McNastys, clean blunts, and everything else you could think of.

We are here in the Hairy Lemon until Monday, and then we will move up to the day one section. There we will help with Dr. Jesse Stone’s clinic, and hang out paddling the ugly sisters wave, Super hole, and all the cool big water rapids the Day one section has to offer.

Attached are some pictures from Mutts Nutts
