Paddling Cuda with Dolphins at Florida’s Cedar Key

Florida’s Cedar Key is old-fashioned, relaxing, rich in history, beautiful beaches, and preserved by surrounding Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge. We launched a Jackson Kayak Cuda 12 from Cedar Key in the afternoon for nearby Atsena Otie Key. We were immediately greeted by passing dolphins. Upon reaching the island, my four year old son and I immediately shifted to pirate mode. We explored the beach, the trails and an old graveyard. We paddled back to Cedar Key at sunset, and the dolphins greeted us again, staying with us for a while. It’s am amazing adventure when you can paddle with your son to an island, play pirate, discuss history, and nature, and paddle on the ocean with dolphins during a beautiful sunset. At the end of the day, we visited Tony’s Seafood Restaurant for seafood and Tony’s World Championship Clam Chowder. We rented a kayak from Riversport Kayaks in nearby Homosassa Springs. Riversport Kayaks allows on site launching, or off site kayak transport for exploring your choice of amazing paddling destinations in the area. If you are equipped to transport a kayak, this is a great option for choosing from a variety of quality kayaks to meet your needs, choice of paddling destinations, and schedule flexibility. Kayak rentals are also available in Cedar Key. Riversport Kayaks
