Controlled descent is a big part of kayaking. I try to express to my students how important it is to take control of the
rapid, slow down, catch eddies, and pick your next move. Pointing down stream and going fast is fun, but once you turn around and look up stream, you learn so much more! SO next time you’re in your favorite rapid, try catching some new eddies and make up your own moves.
Check out my video of how I slow down Jared’s Knee on the Tellico.
