Zen Series

Zen Series The Zen bridges the gap between river runner and creek boat, launching a new tier of speed and performance. High sidewalls provide stability, while ample volume and bow rocker keep you floating on the surface. The Zen is fast, light, and maneuverable; it allows you to fly up and over rocks, holes and waves better than ever! Whether you are looking for a forgiving, easy to roll, all-around kayak or a sporty river runner that surfs as well as it creeks, then the Zen is for you! Available in three sizes.

With a quick release you can push the bulkhead forward and stretch your legs- all without getting out of the boat. Front plates can be removed for added storage in the bow of the kayak.
  • 2  - Fast and Forgiving Planing Hull

This smooth, progressive rocker design carries speed through rapids like nothing we’ve made before and is forgiving for punching holes and boils but also for smooth surfing, carving and spinning.
  • 3  - Sure-Lock Back Band System

Instantly adjustable all-day comfort with no metal parts to rust or break. A simple pull of the ropes and you have the snug fit you love.
  • 4  - Improved Bow Rocker

Lets you ride over holes easier than ever and scoops upwards even when you plug deep.
  • 5  - Higher parting Line for added stability

We added a higher parting line to make this 2015 Zen more forgiving and add more secondary stability.
  • 6  - Drain Plug

To get rain water out by parking on a steep hill, of course. Why else would you need it?
  • 7  - Go Pro Ready  - GoPro

Comes equipped with a screwed in insert Go Pro mount to record your adventures.
  • 8  - JK Nalgene Bottle  - Nalgene

This US-made BSA free product will give you years of use - just like your kayak - and has our logo to match.
  • 9  - 4 Grab Handles and Security Bar

To lock up your investment and keep it securely connected to the roof racks, not to mention safety on the river.
  • 10  - Composite Reinforced Hull Support System

Keeps this flat hull flat even after hard impact, roof rack time or years of use.

Just got my new lg zen and love it. But my question is why is it so much harder to roll than my hero? A little about me I am 5″11 185/190lbs 34 waist with 19.5 shoe. I know it’s a bigger boat but I thought it would be easier.

What size spray skirt for the large Zen?

    1. July 22, 2018 at 3:49 pm

it depends on the brand of skirt, unfortunately. In Seals it’s the 1.7 for a great fit. Check the skirt companies website – this is a larger cockpit rim than any of our medium boats – similar to Karma LG or Villain or Superhero. Hope this helps! Clay

the karma would be better for that as it is slightly taller .
Sounds like an “aftermarket ” type of thing to me?

Heard you were revamping the Zen. Felt the need to give my 2 cents. Please make the layman’s all around dream boat. The world doesn’t need another racer.
    • Keep the excellent thigh indexing. It’s very comfortable but still narrow and low enough to roll easy. No need to lower that deck (see Nirvana).
    • Keep the Zen’s rails. They work, don’t chamfer them for softer landings.
    • Add more rocker. The current Zen likes to go deep. Keep it on top. Also, no need to make a low rocker boat that trades boofing for max speed.
    • Add more volume to the bow. Paddlers are getting used to growing bow friendly boats that stay on top, keep following this trend.
    • keep the every paddler’s stern, Add more volume. Today’s flattened race sterns work well, accelerating the boat downstream when you nail your line like a pro. Bring back the stern that will take care of you when you miss that line.
Thanks and keep up the great work,
    Paul in SEPDX
