The Donkey Flip - Kayak Instruction Video

Donkey Flip on a small wave:

1. Make sure you can do a fast backdeck roll.
2. Drive down the wave and force your bow into the greenwater.
3. Drop and edge and lift your knees hard to get the bow up.
4. At that same moment- Throw your body on the back deck and in the direction you want to roll.
5. When you are upside down really force your body on the back deck and your toes straight.
6. Set up for the backdeck roll and slap the water to get the boat under you as fast as possible to avoid the green water from hitting your body and dragging you off the wave.
7. Take a stroke and sit up fast to lift the bow up so you don’t pearl off.

Just a quickie technique article on this one today.
