This is not an easy post to make. This video has been sitting on the hard drive for a while and I guess it is time to share my folly with the world.
I tried to gloat. I tried to get cute. And I got wet.
Fish grips for the win!
Falling in is a part of fishing. Anyone who spends significant time on the water will take a swim eventually. Thanks for sharing so that I and others can be reminded.
One thing I noted from the video is how stable that kayak was, especially when you were hoisting yourself back in. I have been looking for a very stable platform for fly fishing and this video gives me the confidence to “jump right in”! I will have to demo some of the Jackson boats.
One last note, folks, be sure that you learn and PRACTICE self-rescue techniques! If you go over in deep open water you need to know you can self-rescue quickly and efficiently, especially when the water is cold. Many local groups organize winter pool sessions where you can learn and practice various techniques, so get connected and take advantage in a warm and safe environment.
