COLLEGE KAYAK FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP
The first year of the Salt Series division of the College Kayak Fishing Series has been an absolute blast. In total 12 teams participated in this inaugural season and the Sperry Top-Sider National Championship tournament saw 30 anglers from those teams compete to take home the over $15,000 in prizes!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of fishing the World’s Largest and Oldest
Tournament, The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo! The ADSFR was celebrating its
80th year in operation and held its first ever No-Motor Division sponsored by
Fairhope Boat Co. The Rodeo attracts over 3000 anglers and upwards of 75,000
spectators according to adsfr.com. With so many
So, I’ve been very close on the few tournaments I’ve entered this year. I was 2nd (via tiebreaker!) at the KBF Invitational Tournament, then got 4th in the flounder division at the Jax Classic and in California I was able to score the largest Vermilion and come away with a nice 5 species limit in
This past weekend was the first IFA kayak tour fishing event this year for the Louisiana division. It was held in Empire at Delta Marina. There were 67 people registered for the tournament, which is the most they’ve had for an IFA event ever in Louisiana and I believe the most the IFA has had

The combination of high tide and winds from the south turned
The Tropic Bay Kayak Fishing Classics “Banana River Classic” Tournament held at KARS Park in Merritt Island, FL on April 6 is in the books. The anglers battled 20-25 mph with higher gusts the entire day. My kayak of choice was my Cuda 14. Even in these conditions the Cuda was flawless ! I covered
One of my favorite tournaments, Paddlepalooza, was held this past weekend in Leeville, LA. This year marks it’s tenth year in existence, amazing to think how far the tournament has come in ten years. A record number of people registered for the event, officially there were 272 kayak fishermen (and women) signed up, making it
The Bassmaster Classic is a competition in professional bass fishing The winner of the tournament is widely considered to be the world champion of bass fishing, as is stated on the winner’s trophy and takes home $500,000.00. This year the event was in Tulsa Oklahoma and had 53 anglers. The Bassmaster Classic takes place over
As a new year dawns it is inevitable that we look back at the one that has recently passed. For me this meant looking at the kayak fishing tournaments that I competed in, and deciphering the cryptic messages the waterways of the Southeast had left for me along the way.
Long ago I had made the
