I started my journey 35 years ago fishing with my dad in San Diego, California area lakes. We fished for largemouth bass, bluegill, trout and catfish. At a young age I realized my passion was for bass fishing. We joined a local bass club and tournament fished for a number of years where we both had a lot of success. After about 15 years with the old Ranger bass boat it was time to move on to other fishing avenues. That is when I bought my first kayak in 2003. Immediately I knew that this would provide me with a new and exciting way to get out on the water. I started fishing the local saltwater kayak bass tournaments in the bays, harbors and Pacific Ocean and was among the top anglers. I also compete with a partner in the SWBA and SBS saltwater bass series boat tournaments. These tournaments are from San Diego to Ventura, California fishing in the Pacific Ocean. We have won 3 events with numerous top ten finishes heading into our fourth season. These boat along with the kayak tournaments all target Calico Bass, Sand Bass and Spotted Bay Bass. When I’m not getting ready for a tournament I spend a lot of time right out the back doors of my work place, OEX Kayak & SUP, on Mission Bay fishing for Spotted Bay Bass from a Jackson!
